In a time when Europe faces rising gas prices, there is a demand for a more efficient heating solution. In a multidisciplinary team of 5, we designed a solution to allow a person to feel warm in a room by using as little energy as possible.
Infrared radiation was chosen as the method of heating as it's main advantage is that it only heats the surface it reaches, instead of all the air in the room, making it much more efficient than conventional heating.
InfraHeat, a ceiling mounted, automatically targeted infrared heater is a smart lamp that uses object recognition to identify and track the user within a room. A focused beam of warm infrared light follows the user anywhere in the room, minimizing the required area that needs to be heated.
