OVERVIEW

Heat the person, not the room.

InfraHeat is a ceiling-mounted infrared heater that aims at the person — not the room. A camera with on-device object recognition tracks where the inhabitant is sitting; an articulated head re-points the heating element to follow.

The argument: a household running an air-conditioned heat pump spends thousands of watts to keep an empty kitchen at twenty degrees. Spot heating uses tens. Designed in the middle of the 2022 European energy crisis, when the brief practically wrote itself.

Prototype demo — tracking and re-aiming.

Sometimes the right answer is to aim less energy, not generate more.
